Happy Halloween

I hope that your weekend has been full of spooky and sweet.

Happy Halloween!!

Fall Food

Decorating for the Fall is fun, but lets be honesty, this time of year is really about two things.  Being thankful and good food.

Here are some of the fun recipes that were shared yesterday on Show and Tell Saturday:

Mom Endeavors has a recipe for Pumpkin Turnovers:

Here is another pumpkin cinnamon roll recipe, this one from Singing With Birds, that I am going to try:

Crafts & Sutch posted about a Pumpkin and Gingerbread Trifle she made:

Singing With Birds has some yummy treats that would work for a party tonight or any party from now until it is officially winter:

And apple butter is something that holds a special place in my heart.  It was a special treat that my grandfather and I shared and it will forever remind me of him.  Love People, Like Things has a recipe for Sugar Free Apple Butter and I am going to have to give it a try:

If you have a favorite Fall recipe on your blog that you would like to share, I would love for you to leave a link for me in the comment section!

Show and Tell Saturday: Fall Crafts

So now that Halloween is here it is officially time to start looking forward to Thanksgiving and *gasp* Christmas.  I will take it slow though.  Lets start with some fun Fall themed goodies that were shared for Show and Tell Saturday.

Oopsey Daisy made a Gratitude Tree Advent Calendar:

I love these cute Turkey Hair Clips that Agape Love shares a tutorial for:

Craftily Ever After has this fun Gobble On printable on her site for you to download:

and Jellybean Junkyard has a tutorial for this cute turkey pillow by tracing her kids hands:

Thanks to everyone that shared a Fall craft for Show and Tell Saturday!

Costumes Parade

Here are some fun costumes that were shared with me that I wanted to show off!

This Where The Wild Things Are costume is NOT a rental.  You can check out how it was made over at Love Stitched:

All of the details in this witch costume are amazing:

This Cinderella isn't letting her glass slippers go anywhere:

Peter Pan (and his shadow):

A baby Yoda:

I completely forgot about How To Train A Dragon when we were thinking of costume ideas:

Both Robota and the Mario Coin Box make good use of boxes you have lying around the house:

And last but not least, Pulling curls got the entire family in on the action as The Flinstones:

PacMan also has a ghost buddy following him around:

And the tutorial for this cute Alice in Wonderland dress can be used to make a dress for your daughter's dress up closet too:

we did our Trick or Treating last night, so I am looking forward to hanging out at home and checking out all of the cute costumes that come to our door.

Time To Vote!!

If you have a second between the costumes and candy, head over to Crafting With The Stars to vote for your favorite project of the week!!

It is time again for Show and Tell Saturday!
The LAST Show and Tell Saturday of October.  November HERE WE COME!

Please grab this button and add it to your post or sidebar:

Then add a link to your favorite post of the week below.
Please link directly to your post not just the homepage of your blog.
Please be a friendly participant and check out some of the other projects that have been shared.  It is more fun when people are listening when you get up for show and tell!

I can't wait to see what you have been working on!   And have a Happy Halloween!

Brownie Stuffed Oranges

I have mentioned before that chocolate and orange is one of our favorite flavor combos in our house.  We frequently substitute the water in chocolate cake and brownie recipes for orange juice to give it a little hint of orange.  I never thought to try this though:

Cool Craft Sites shared a video from The Today Show on how to make these brownie stuffed oranges.  Now I am wondering if I should try to cut the jack-o-lantern face out of the orange before or after they bake.

Milk Jug Skeleton

I picked Ruby up from preschool the other day and one of my neighbors had a cute skeleton hanging from her tree made out of empty milk jugs.  I took a picture with my phone, but it didn't come out very well, so I did a little searching online and found Mr. Bottle Bones from Family Fun:

After a litte more searching I found this cute guy that Little Gene Green Bean made:

She used the tutorial found in the Family Fun magazine:

You need quite a few empty milk (or water) jugs, so this is a project that will have to wait until next year,  but you can head over to Little Gene Green Bean right now and check out all of the cute kid friendly crafts and activities she has on her blog.

Floating Boat Place Cards

Ruffled is featuring an amazingly fun idea for a place card.  It is a boat that floats in a glass of water and it is super cute:

My sister in law is having a baby boy and I am pretty sure I am going to force her to have a boat themed shower.  It probably won't be very hard after she sees these cute place cards.

Candy Corn Frozen Yogurt Pops

What do you get when you combine this this:

with this:

A candy corn frozen yogurt pop from V&Co of course:

Or in my case a candy corn frozen pudding pop!

Halloween Trick or Treat Flashlights

I know I said that there wasn't time to do any more Halloween crafts, but there is time to do this:

Martha Stewart has some great tips for dressing up a regular flashlight to make it the perfect accessory to your child's costume.  And it will help keep them safe, not to mention make them a little easier to find in a big crowd of kids.  You can check out the Flashy Lights HERE.

Practically Perfect Pancake Recipes

I don't think I have ever met a person that doesn't like pancakes.  My husband prefers waffles, but still, he likes pancakes.  They are pretty much practically perfect.  If you don't like pancakes I will try to still be your friend.  Actually, what I will do is try to convince you to try one of these amazing pancake recipes to change your mind.

Amy from The Idea Room has a recipe for Cinnamon Roll Pancakes:

If you don't like pancakes or cinnamon rolls than we might need to find a doctor that can treat your condition.

Our Best Bites has a recipe for Chunky Monkey Pancakes:

Dine and Dish has a recipe for Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes (which I am hoping tastes as good as the lemon poppyseed pancakes from Kerbey Lane):

And if you haven't tried a pancake with bacon in it, then you really haven't lived.  This maple bacon pancake is from A Cozy Kitchen:

So I have to know, what is your favorite pancake?

Witch Legs Halloween Decorations

When it gets close enough to a holiday that people are pretty much done decorating, I usually start a post that I save in draft for ideas to share next year.  I have done this for a couple of years and I have learned that I never actually get around to posting most of them because there is a never ending supply of new ideas.  That is what I love about blogging.

So even though it is probably too close to Halloween for you to bust out your craft supplies to make a new wreath or banner, I am going to share these so that they are here next year.  And if you happen to need a last minute idea that incorporates witch legs, this is the post you have been waiting for!

Lemon Tree Creations has a tutorial for this wreath with cute ribbon witch legs:

This pair of hanging witch legs from Design Dazzle would be super cute hanging under my porch:

Or you can put them in the fireplace like Fireflies and Family:

I already shared this cute towel from Flamingo Toes with you:

And I posted about these wicked witch legs from A Day in the Life of Romona last year:

The Whimsical Princess used witch legs to decorate some Halloween S'mores in a jar:

Nap Time Journal made an entire garland from cute witch legs:

And these cute dipped pretzel bags from This Old Barn are cute, but you add the phrase Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet to the bag and they might be my favorite Halloween party favor ever:

And I think you now get the idea that there are about a million cute witch leg crafts out there!  Go makes some!

Halloween Spider Web Seven Layer Dip

If you are looking for a last minute party dish for Halloween (and one that will be easy to prepare) this spider web seven layer dip from Woman's Day might just be what you are looking for:

I found the idea (along with a ton of other great Halloween treats) over at Party Frosting.

Acorn Treats

Before I moved to Texas I had never seen a real acorn that had fallen out of an actual tree.  At least one that wasn't sold in a craft store.  Now that we have a yard full of them I love them even more.  My mom must feel the same way, because she collected a bag full of them and took them back to Arizona with her.

Unless you are a squirrel, acorns are pretty much just decorative.  But acorn themed snacks on the other hand are not only cute, but edible!

Family Fun not only made super cute leaf shaped napkins for fall, they transformed doughnut holes into perfectly cute acorns:

Lipstick and Laundry made these cute acorns with frosting, mini Vanilla wafers, and good old hershey kisses:

Little Nummies made an entire acorn sandwich.  I love the cereal top, but you could use sliced almonds too or raisins for the hat too:

Beth from The Stories of A to Z made peanut butter chocolate acorns and even has a tip for turning non-perils black if you aren't a sprinkle junkie like me.  (I have non perils in just about every color).

And this almond acorn idea actually comes from a diet blog:

Do you love acorns as much as I do, or does my obsession just come from being deprived of them for most of my life?  Do you have any acorn themed treats that you have made?  I would love for you to leave me a link if you do!
